Biobio Madera
About
Biobío Madera is a regional strategic initiative based in the Biobío Region of Chile, one of the country’s most important forestry and wood-processing hubs. The program brings together public institutions, universities, industry partners, and small-to-medium enterprises to accelerate the adoption of modern, sustainable construction methods using timber.
Its mission is to strengthen the entire value chain—from forest management and advanced manufacturing to design, engineering, and on-site assembly—while promoting innovation, productivity, and low-carbon building solutions. Biobío Madera focuses particularly on industrialized construction systems that improve quality, reduce waste, shorten construction times, and expand access to sustainable housing.
By aligning regional capabilities with global sustainability goals, the initiative seeks to position timber as a key material for climate-responsive construction and to support the transition toward a more resilient and circular built environment.
