Whitney Kaisa is an architecture researcher with a focus on sustainable materials, circular construction and climate-responsive design within the built environment. Her work explores the viability of the coconut palm as an alternative building material in Kenya, investigating how locally available resources such as coconut timber, coir, and makuti thatch can contribute to low-carbon architecture, circular material systems and sustainable value chains. Her research bridges traditional material knowledge and contemporary green building strategies, with a particular interest in advancing locally grounded, environmentally responsible architectural solutions.
